Technology is a major part of our daily lives. We use our phones, tablets, and laptops in combination with the internet to connect with other people and to access information on a daily basis. Most of today's young learners have grown up with technology at their fingertips. Because of this, I believe it is important to use technology in the classroom to show students how to use it responsibly and respectfully to access the vast amount of information that is provided to them.
From doing research for an essay to putting together group presentations with their peers, technology comes in very handy for students. I use technology in conjunction with my instruction so that students both know how to properly navigate technology but also how to use it to get what they need. Students are able to access premium information using the technological resources they are given. My role is to be their guide and give them the tools to access this information responsibly.
In addition, virtual classrooms are becoming very important. Even before they briefly became the primary method of instruction, I have used virtual classrooms to assist students quickly when I can't meet up in person. I also use and have used virtual classrooms to connect with students from around the globe--literally. With a virtual classroom environment, the learning comes directly to the student wherever they are, so they're able to continue to be lifelong learners without having to go far.
