Beginning: Students should arrive on time for class. As they enter the classroom, they should do so in a calm, orderly manner one after another. After sitting in their seats, students should pull out the necessary classroom materials and then make sure all other belongings are stowed away properly so as not to be a distraction or obstacle.
End: Students will be given an exit ticket to complete. After completing the exit ticket, they will place it on a central desk. Students will then work together to clean up/put away any materials they used during class. Afterward, students will gather their belongings in a calm manner and then line up to leave the classroom.
As students are working, I will be circulating to ensure understanding of material, address any misconceptions, and help students where needed. If students are working on an independent written assignment, once they are complete, their assignments may be placed on a central desk to be collected and graded. Online assignments will have designated folders for students to submit their work for grading.
Within the instruction, there will be cues for students to guide them on when transitions between activities will occur. When students receive that cue, they should be prepared to put away current materials and move quietly to the next task. Transitions to other classes should follow the same procedures as the ending of class procedures.
After two unexcused absences, students will receive a warning. If they have a third unexcused absence, their parents will receive a call from me and we may meet up to discuss how to prevent these absences from occurring again. If there are any more unexcused absences after that, the students will get occurrence points. The first occurrence point will result in detention, and if a student reaches three occurrence points(meaning six unexcused absences), they will be reported to the district supervisor as truant.
Students will be given up to a week after an assignment is due to turn it in. After that additional week, no late work will be accepted. However, students will be able to discuss with me extra credit opportunities and ways to make up for missed points where needed throughout the school year.
Students will be given clear rubrics for each assignment. For homework, students can expect to receive their graded work within three days of when the homework is due. For larger projects, grading will be no longer than one week. All grades will be kept updated and posted at the end of the week. Grades will be in standard letter grading form.
Parents will be updated regularly on their children's progress through Parent-Teacher Conferences. I will also send out weekly newsletters to parents so they know what's on the agenda for their children and what they can expect for the upcoming week.
If students are misbehaving in class, parents will be notified after 3rd repeated occurrence. If the student's parents are willing, we will set up a conference to address how to correct the behavior and how we can move forward with their student.

My classroom layout plan is all about student comfort and increased productivity. I know there are some students who work better when they're in a small group and some students who prefer to be in a more collaborative environment and learn from their peers. That is why I added some small group seating and then a larger conference-style table. I also added a bit of free seating because I know that can be helpful to some, to have less of a structured feel. I want students to be able to study in an area that helps them be more productive. There is a computer workstation in the back of the classroom for students' research projects. If there's a time when all students would need to do research, they can research from their desks as well on tablets or laptops.
