GREAT RIVER ROAD RUN CANCELED
Due to the potential for a snow storm this Friday night into Saturday, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2025 Great River Road Run. Not only are we concerned about the safety of the runners, but the safety of our amazing volunteers are also a top priority for us. It takes a lot of people to make this race happen, and everyone’s safety is paramount. We understand your frustration with our decision, and we understand the weather might not even be what they expect, but with so many moving parts we are forced to make a decision days in advance. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support of the Alton Road Runners Club. We hope to see you out on the road in 2026! If you signed up for pre registration, keep an eye on your email for more information. Thank you and we hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Our club started in 1979 by a small group of people who were passionate about running and getting others involved in the sport. It has since grown immensely into a big dedicated group of individuals and family’s who are still passionate about running but also passionate about giving back to the community.

All of our races and events are designed to give back. If running is something you love or if you just want to volunteer please join our club, we are always welcoming new members! You can find an application here if you would like to join us. Simple fill it out and mail it in. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Family Glow Run
Family Glow Run
A night time race in August filled with glow in the dark fun. Only a $5 cost, all the kids uner 14 and $10 for anyone 15 and up.
Track Series
Track Series
Held at the EAWR HS track, the series runs all Thursday's in June. Anyone is welcome to come out and run. We have ages 2 to 90 show up and run.
Great River Road Run
Great River Road Run
The race is set on the beautiful Great River Road in Alton,IL. It consists of a 10 mile and 5k runs. It's the Saturday after Thanksgiving every year, this race is always a lot of fun with a great turn out.

Every year we host our annual banquet to celebrate the amazing Cross Country runners we have from the area. 15 local high schools join us for a night of food and awards to honor them and their accomplishments.
