The Arakan Refugee Relief Committee – Malaysia (ARRC) was first established in 2004 as a response to the urgent humanitarian needs of Arakan refugees who fled to Malaysia to escape systemic persecution, ethnic violence, and conflict in Myanmar. Formed out of necessity and solidarity, ARRC began as a grassroots initiative aimed at offering a lifeline to those displaced, and vulnerable in a foreign land.
ARRC continues to operate as a non-political, community-led, humanitarian platform — committed to the protection, empowerment, and dignified advancement of the Arakan refugee community in Malaysia.
Arakan Refugee Relief Committee – ARRC is a community-based organization (CBO) that provides support and assistance to persons of concern to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The type of support ARRC provided is diverse and covers a wide array of areas such as providing education children in the refugee community, assisting members with health problems to access medical services, assisting & coordinating for protection and legal related issues, providing psychosocial support to their members, and so forth.
