Arnewood Divers is a formally constituted sports club affiliated to the Sub-Aqua Association and British Sub-Aqua Club. Our training and diving activities follow their strict guidelines. Our mission is to provide affordable SCUBA diving opportunities and training in a positive, safe and fun environment in the local area.
A Dive that is listed on SPOND (this is a club membership app) and has a nominated Dive Marshal. Only dives that are approved by the Diving Officer are to be listed. All dives to be conducted in accordance with the safe practices of sports diving.
A Dive marshal must be present on all Authorised Dives. They shall be a Dive Leader or above and shall oversee all diving activities for the duration of the dive/expedition. Signing up to take part in Authorised Dive commits you to paying the full cost of the trip, whether or not you are subsequently able to attend. Find someone to take your place if you cannot attend. If, for any reason you cannot attend a dive you have signed up for, it is your responsibility to find a suitable person to take your place. This person will also have to be approved as suitable for the trip by the Dive Marshal/DO. Notify the dive team on SPOND before 7pm the day before the event chat that you are fit and packed with full kit tested and ready to go, check your air!
All diving shall be in Buddy Pairs which have been agreed with the Dive Mashal and approved by the DO. On every dive, one diver in each pair should be elected the Dive Leader. One Star (OWD) Divers may only dive together at the discretion of the DO. Two Star Divers can dive with other Two Star divers or above. Divers under training must be led by a qualified instructor.
If you need to borrow some equipment, allow plenty of time to arrange this. Arrive at or before the meetup time, some divers take longer than others, If ropes off at 6pm and it takes you 1 hour to get ready, get there an hour early. Fill in your dive log and if skills are completed get your instructor to sign it.
GDPR: By providing your contact details you are agreeing that we can hold you name, address, telephone number, email address on file with the purpose of communicating club related information, this information is shared between club members, and is essential for us to be able to provide a service to our members. We shall not be giving your details to other third parties. A fuller GDPR information sheet can be provided on request.
Obtain permission, BEFORE diving in PRIVATE WATERS, ESTUARIES OR HARBOURS. Do not overcrowd public beaches.
AVOID obstructing CAR PARKS and SLIP WAYS. Remember other users and have consideration for them.
DO NOT LEAVE EQUIPMENT lying around on public beaches, where it can be a danger to other people.
Do not spoil the site by leaving litter, USE LITTER BINS OR TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU. ALWAYS OBEY LOCAL BYE LAWS AND HARBOUR RULES.
Obtain permission to launch your boat, from the HARBOUR MASTER, LOCAL YACHT CLUB or authorised COUNCIL OFFICIALS. INFORM THE COASTGUARD OF YOUR INTENTIONS AND' BOOK OUT AND IN WITH THEM Avoid diving in SHIPPING FAIRWAYS OR IN TRAFFIC CONGESTED AREAS.
DO NOT DIVE AROUND FISHERMEN9S LOBSTER POTS, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE Obey ALL regulations regarding the catching of fish and crustaceans.
