Sep 18, 2025: Congrats Dr. Mehta!

Dhruv Mehta successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Hybrid Learning for Rough Terrain Navigation of Actively Articulated Wheeled Vehicles."

Dhruv has already embarked on the next chapter of his career. He has joined Arrive AI as a Robotics 3D Specialist, where they are tackling some exciting challenges in autonomous last-mile delivery. Congrats, Dhruv, and all the best! 👏👍

Sep 08, 2025: Congrats Dr. Salvi!

An A+ for Ameya on his doctoral dissertation! Recently, Ameya Salvi successfully defended his PhD dissertation entitled "Learning enhanced system identification and control for skid-steered robots." Ameya was advised and co-advised by Dr. Venkat Krovi and Dr. Phanindra Tallapragada, respectively 😊

The good news keeps coming though! Before even attending the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony later this month, Ameya will begin as a Robotics Researcher at Hitachi Research and Development in Michigan, where he hopes to extend some of his PhD research work there. Congratulations Ameya! We are so proud of you and can't wait to see how you positively impact industry!

Krovi has been honored with the Mechanisms and Robotics Award by The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) at the Design Engineering Division (DED) Awards Luncheon during the recent International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers in Engineering (IDETC-CIE 2025) in Anaheim, CA!

Jul 31, 2025: Congrats Dr. Joglekar!

Congratulations to Ajinkya Joglekar, who successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Data-Driven Discovery of Finite-Dimensional Koopman Operator for Modeling and Control of Uncrewed Ground Vehicles."

This PhD will be Ajinkya's second degree from the Department of Automotive Engineering - he earned the AuE Master of Science degree in 2021 as well! We are so proud of the work Ajinkya has done, and we will certainly miss seeing him around the Campbell Center after his 6-year stint with our department. He soon begins a Postdoc position at Texas A&M, and we know he will do amazing things in College Station, TX and beyond! 🙂

🤩 Excited to share that ARMLab alum Huzefa Kagalwala was recently featured in SAE MOMENTUM magazine! Congrats, Huzefa! 🎉

🤖 Many of you will remember Huzefa for his critical role in the pilot deployment of the SAE Bootcamp, which focused on building robotics talent in a world reshaped by COVID-19. His contributions didn’t stop there—he continued to support and shape future deployments, leaving a lasting impact on the program. 🤝

Dec 12, 2024: Congrats Dr. Srinivasan!

Srivatsan Srinivasan recently defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Adaptive Control for Wheeled Mobile Manipulation" and will now be awarded the PhD in Automotive Engineering, the terminal degree in the field! This is Srivatsan’s second AuE degree, after earning the Master’s in 2017. Srivatsan is already putting his knowledge base to good use. Since 2022, he has worked as a Senior Research Engineer at Gatik in California, all while finishing up the final stages of his dissertation. And now, after all the extra work and effort, he will become Dr. Srinivasan. We know he will continue to do great things in the industry, bolstered by the effort he put into this program and the knowledge base from coursework and research over these last several years. Amazing work Srivatsan, we are so proud of you and know you will continue to do big things!
