  • Technical Lead of Data Science and Research @Vitus Commodities, İzmir, Turkey (Oct 2020 - )

    • Responsible for the internal machine learning framework which hosts 150+ time series models which produces forecasts continuously every day. Our tech stack consists of Docker for packaging, Jenkins for CI/CD, Airflow for scheduling and orchestration, AWS ECS for cloud resources, MLFlow for model management and Apache Superset for model monitoring.

    • Leading a team of 5 people which consists of Data Scientists and ML Engineers who are contributing to the modeling pipeline end-to-end starting with the data exploration to modeling, deployment and continuous monitoring

    • Mentoring the team members for the data science best-practices, MLOps considerations and machine learning in general

    • Acting as an "interface" to the other data teams, namely the Data Engineering Team and Systematic Trading Team

Worked as a participant in Science to Data Science (S2DS) Bootcamp program tailored for science PhDs to grow their business skills working on projects with companies.

  • Member of a team consisting of 4 science PhDs within Siisti AI - a startup based in Berlin on automatic data cleaning products

  • Designed a seq2seq deep learning model for user-intent prediction of "Programming by Example" problem that achieves +95% accuracy

  • The proof-of-concept has been decided to be implemented in the Siisti codebase

  • PhD Researcher in the ATLAS Experiment at CERN, Geneva Switzerland (Sep 2017 - Nov 2020)

    • Lead developer on implementation and deployment of new Particle Identification (PID) algorithm based on Recurrent Deep Neural Networks (RNN) for the TRT Detector in the ATLAS Experiment, for the next phase of the LHC which will start in 2021.

    • I was involved with this the end-to-end machine learning project at CERN for 1.5 years.

    • I have developed the LSTM model inspired from cutting-edge NLP approaches and worked on implementing the PyTorch model in C++ production environment of the ATLAS codebase.

Thesis: Applying machine learning methods to vector boson scattering related problems and detector improvements in ATLAS*

*switched to industry in my thesis period - essentially "everything but the thesis"

  • M.Sc in Boğaziçi University Physics Department (2014 - 2017)

Thesis: "Cameleon Search in CAST Experiement at CERN" - In 2016-2017, I've worked with the CAST Collaboration at CERN with the supervision of G. Cantatore (University of Trieste), Serkant A. Çetin (Bilgi Unv.), V. Erkcan Özcan (Boğaziçi Unv.) with the design and implementation of a state-of-the art chameleon interferometer, KWISP (Kinetic Wisp Detection) detector . Chameleons are weakly interacting particles which are proposed for the so-called "dark energy" problem. My thesis was on charecterization of the detector and its preliminary data analysis.
