Guided Tour in Ariccia
The tour includes admission to Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia, a dedicated tour guide and a drink (aperitivo) in the main square of Ariccia.
With the expert guide Luca Falaschi you can take a dedicated guided tour of the Palazzo Ducale in Ariccia (Rome), a unique example of a Baroque residence that has remained unchanged in its architecture, urban and landscape context. A real time capsule that miraculously preserves, in addition to environmental harmony, its furnishings, function and the original layout of the rooms. This visit is a journey back in time, which catapults us into the past of the great European aristocracy through the history of one of the most illustrious Italian families, that of the Princes Chigi.
With its harmonious external appearance, it is the result of a radical restructuring that transformed the severe Savelli castle into a sumptuous Baroque residence in the 17th century. The intervention was part of the urban and architectural adaptation of Ariccia promoted by the Chigi and their relative, Pope Alexander VII (1655-67), under the direction of Bernini. In fact, the Sienese family bought the fiefdom on the Alban Hills from the Savellis in 1661 due to its proximity to Castel Gandolfo, chosen by the pope as the seat of the papal holidays.
For three centuries it remained in the hands of the Chigi family, and is a rare example of a Baroque aristocratic residence that preserves most of the period furnishings and family relics, visible in the Cardinal's Rooms and in the Noble Floor. The Museum of Roman Baroque, an extraordinary pictorial anthology of a truly golden age for Rome, has recently been added to the tour.
The visit will take place on Friday in English and on Saturday in Italian from 16:00pm and will last approximately 2 hours.
The tour will be confirmed with exclusively with a minimum number of 8 participants
Price: € 50,00 for person.
