RSVP by the end of practice on January 7th to compete in the VHSL Debate Season.
Congress bills are due to Ms. Denson, via email, by February 11th for the Regional; March 4th for the Super Regional; and April 4th for States.
There are two spots available for each 1v1 or 2v2 debate style. There are six spots available for Congressional Debaters. If there are more people signed up for an event than there are spots to compete, then the decision will be made at the coaches' discretion.
We can only field two competitors in each of the 1v1 or 2v2 categories. We have six spots available for congressional debaters. Success at this level requires serious preparation and commitment, with 24 hours to submit registration forms after each event. I need to be able to commit you asap.
Regional: February 21 (Smithfield HS, Smithfield, VA 23430)
Super Regional: March 14 (Tabb HS, Yorktown, VA 23693)
States Championship: April 18 (Randolph-Macon College, Ashland)
We need:
two additional debate judges, and
A parent willing to carpool to Smithfield and back for the Regional (2/21).
A parent willing to carpool to Yorktown and back for the Super Regional (3/14).
A parent willing to carpool to Ashland and back for States (4/18).
Regional (2/21): Meet at Starbucks (4511 S Laburnum Ave, Henrico, VA 23231) at 6:45AM for a 7:00 AM sharp departure to Smithfield. A one-and-a-half-hour drive to Smithfield High School. We will order lunch for delivery. We will leave after awards, and students will text their adults to come pick them up from Starbucks.
Super Regional (3/14): Meet at Starbucks (4511 S Laburnum Ave, Henrico, VA 23231) at 7:00 AM for a 7:15 AM sharp departure to Smithfield. A one-hour drive to Tabb High School.
