What to expect
"Grief can be the garden..." - Rumi
In this space you can find various grief support activities and materials such as:
Community Altar: At A Resting Place’s community altar, guests are welcome to place a copied pictured or written name(s) of a deceased loved one or significant person onto the altar to remember and honor them in this space.
Local & National Therapeutic Grief Resources: A Resting Place has several free resources available for guests to take home. Located in the center of our space is a table containing tools for bereavement support and local grief counseling. At our resource table there is a scannable QR code where guests can access a list of local and national grief resources.
Grief Support Library: This mini library collection consists of grief books, resources, and other stories + literature that intersect grief such as culture, language, history, psychology, and spirituality. These books are available for visitors to look and read throughout their time at ARP. Many of these books cover a variety of different aspects pertaining to grief and loss such as: sudden death, healing after a loved one has died from suicide, and various children's books.
Letter & Art Making: Grieving guests at A Resting Place are always encouraged to decorate and write a letter to loved ones, land, or memory. These letters can consist of words of affirmations, express your grief, hopes, or prayers. You may decorate your note and place it on the the blue wall across from the glass case. Sometimes when we experience a traumatic or grief-filled event, we may hold onto intense or anguishing feelings. Let this activity be a chance for you to release or externalize some of those emotions to share with others.
Please come in and see what we are all about! Tuloy po kayo & Semrek kayo apo!
