Aresa wrote an hour long musical, While They Last, with three other writers through the Kidstage Originals program. It was performed in a stage reading by student actors at Village Theatre Kidstage. It was an amazing experience that will continue this year. Aresa and the team will work to expand the script into two acts, culminating in a fully produced production this March.
Aresa focused on script writing and lyrics. In the script she worked on dialogue and the emotional journey of the characters. She also expanded her comedy skills, since the first half of the show is very comedy centered. As the process continued and added actors, her focus shifted to editing. She had to learn to effectively receive notes on her work while still retaining her vision. The entire script was rewritten many times before the "final product".

Songwriting is a new area for Aresa, so it was a learning curve as she went through the process. She spent many nights wrestling with structure and rhymes but through that she learned what worked and what didn't. She created songs that she is proud of. A few of them are show cased below.

Never Part
Aresa wrote the lyrics and the beginning melody to the song Never Part. A duet between the two main characters, Lydia and Cri. Aresa worked with her fellow writer Roze to write the second half of the melody, including all the harmonies.

Bittersweet
Bittersweet
Though it didn't make it into the final cut of the show, the song Bittersweet is one of Aresa's favorites. It's original purpose was to come at the climax of the show when the main character is trying to process her grief. Aresa wrote both the lyrics and the melody.
