This website uses automated Python scripts to update various graphics and data files related to Arctic and Antarctic sea ice. Each page has several graphics and has the numeric data available as well.

14 Jun 2025: Surface melt indicators page has started updating again and will be updated daily until September.
1 Jun 2025: Sea ice concentration animations have started updating again and will be updated daily during the melt season until September.
18 Apr 2025: Sea ice volume moved to separate page and added animations to JAXA extent pages.
30 Mar 2025: During summer time (daylight saving time), the daily scripts are scheduled to run at the following hours (may be delayed by ~15 minutes depending on the GitHub load):

16 Nov 2024: JAXA sea ice extent pages added.
9 Nov 2024: Antarctic sea ice drift maps added on the Fram Strait Export page.
24 Oct 2024: CryoSat sea ice thickness data have started updating for the 2024/2025 freezing season and will be updated daily.
18 Sep 2024: HYCOM data not available anymore on the Navy website. I'll try to find an alternative. To be determined.
15 Sep 2024: The surface melt indicators and sea ice concentration animation pages have been disabled for the freezing season. They will resume at the beginning of June 2025.
