Ok, so here is the newest member, a 1974 Datsun 260z.
My first true car/daily driver/party/racing around etc... was a 1971 240z, although this isn't the same model, it is about as close as I can get (considering the purchase price :), I couldn't get a 240z even close :(. )
No real differences between the models other than engine size of 2.6 liters versus 2.4 liters. This car is quite strange in that it has all the trappings of the 240z, turn signal locations on the front are identical as the 240, tail lights are the 260/280 style naturally. This car has factory A/C (which I will most likely remove and sell, that's what windows are for. Strangely though it has the original "after thought" A/C the 240s had.) It is (gah) an automatic, so yes, that will be changed out for a standard transmission :)
I have already started tearing down and stripping the paint, whoever painted this thing laid it on, and I mean, that must have used 3 gallons (overstatement, but damn the amount of paint is unbelievable).
I of course will be going yellow :), but I will be changing it up from the Vette and Cutlass yellow a tad bit.
A base of chrome yellow, with a clear metallic (fine metallic) and then a clear urethane over that, not sure how it will turn out, but we shall see. I have shut down any real work on her for the winter but will start back up in spring.
Drive train does seem solid, runs good after some tuning and transmission does function properly, but as I said, I will be swapping out the auto for a 4 or maybe a 5 speed and the A/C will be removed and sold.
I will just post some of the pic from messing around so far.
