DR Aisling Tierney

Archaeology

Visiting Lecturer at the Cultural Heritage Institute (Royal Agricultural University). Subjects taught across Masters programmes: leadership & management for cultural heritage; sustainable development and heritage; public & community engagement for cultural heritage; project management for heritage. I also supervise Masters-level dissertations. This connects to my archaeological fieldwork in southern Albania at Nivica and Lescovik. The project embraces the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and integrates research into Intangible Cultural Heritage.

I am a member of Archaeologists Engage, an independent non-profit group of archaeologists who came together to enable engagement between professionals and the public. ArchaeologistsEngage is a registered voluntary organisation in the Norwegian Brønnøysund Register. My main involvement is through supporting research and public engagement at Great Torrington.

My background also includes extensive public and community archaeology, including museums, schools, and higher education (e.g. Berkeley Castle Project excavations in England; Dig Hatteras excavations in North Carolina).
