Advancing Assistive Robotics Through Intelligent Control

The Assistive Robotics & Control Laboratory (ARC Lab) develops robotic systems that enhance human capability through assistive manipulation, shared autonomy, haptic interaction, and intelligent control.

Our research combines robotics, control systems, teleoperation, and human–robot interaction to investigate how robots can safely and effectively work alongside people. The laboratory emphasizes hands-on experimentation, reproducible research, and meaningful undergraduate involvement using modern robotic and haptic platforms.

UFactory xArm 7 — Collaborative robotic manipulator used for research in assistive robotic manipulation, shared autonomy, motion planning, and safety-aware control.

3D Systems Touch X — High-fidelity haptic interface used for research in haptic interaction, teleoperation, force feedback, and human–machine performance evaluation.

Research Focus

The ARC Lab conducts research at the intersection of assistive robotics, control systems, haptic interaction, and shared autonomy. Our work combines theoretical modeling, algorithm development, and experimental validation using collaborative robotic and haptic platforms.

Modeling, simulation, and experimental evaluation of robotic systems

Research is conducted using the UFactory xArm 7 collaborative robot, the 3D Systems Touch X haptic interface, and a growing collection of sensing and perception technologies that support studies in robot control and human–robot interaction.
