Dear Parents/Guardians,
My name is Mrs. Jimenez and I currently teach at Poly. I teach special education to moderate-to-severe students. I have created an outdoor sensory space with garden beds that have been successful and a haven for our students with sensory needs (and all students at Poly that need a mental break). To continue offering our Poly students, especially the special education population top-notch services/education, I would like to beautify the outdoor sensory area by promoting inclusiveness and environmental awareness by painting a mural.
I am working closely with a local Latino artist (Poly currently has over 2,000 Latino students) to design and paint a mural outside of the library wall (adjacent to the outdoor sensory space) which will reflect Poly culture, the array of disabilities that we serve at Poly, and environmental awareness.
Most importantly, the artist Enrique Brito would like for students, staff, and the community to join him in painting the mural!
The investment of the mural is $6,825 which includes the paint, supplies, equipment, and labor (see the artist Project Proposal and QR code attached). The goal is to complete and unveil the mural by April/May 2022. Local Aztec dancers, folkloric dancers, and poets will be invited to the celebration.
