Work-Based Learning (WBL) Program

The WBL Program is a unique Class that allows students to apply their classroom learning AND skills in a professional setting and gain real-world experience.  Work-Based Learning provides an opportunity for seniors to start preparing for a career while still in high school. Through Work-Based Learning, students are able to earn wages while learning from skilled professionals, increase career options and future employability, strengthen academic skills, experience the connection between education and real-life work skills, credits while in high school and experience potential careers in the workplace.

Students learn what it takes to become young professionals by working with local employers in the capacity of paid positions, internships or apprenticeships. 

WBL makes the “real world” connection between school and work!

WBL Students' Benefits:

• Provide opportunities to explore and give a realistic view of possible career fields.

• Establish a career choice before entering post-secondary (college) education.

• Help to develop workplace “professionalism” through responsibility, positive attitudes and habits.

• Offer opportunities for leadership development.

•  Allow for interaction with adults in a work-based setting which helps to develop effective communication skills.

• Form good skills with managing finances, work ethics and time management. 

• Earn on the Job Training.

• Allow you to leave school early to WORK.

• Earn class grade(s) AND  1 full credit for each period enrolled per semester.   Example: Enrolled in 3 periods, that's 3 full credits for both 1st and 2nd semesters for a total of 6 credits!

• Earn the EVERFI Financial Literacy AND Georgia BEST Certifications.

• Basically, you are Learning While You Are EARNING a Grade and Money!
