1. Copy the Following Quest Prompt

Copy the following text (shown in green below) exactly as it is:

"I want you to write an interactive ancient Roman story for me, with three options at the end of each stage. The story is to take place in the Roman city of Aquilonia. I want my character to take part in this story and I want my name to be known as <insert name here>. I would like you to write a short paragraph of text about a Roman quest and then give me five different options to choose from. Three options must develop the story positively, the fourth option must develop the story negatively and the fifth option should give me flexibility in providing my own option. The positive options should develop the story so that I can continue to play and delve deeper into the adventures. The fourth negative option should cause the quest to end by some failure and so halt my adventure. Please muddle these options around so I do not know which option I should choose. 2. Open ChatGPT and Paste the Prompt

Launch ChatGPT in your browser and paste the copied text into the chat input. Remember to insert your character's name into the text at the position of <insert your name here>. Then press 'Enter' to generate your instructions.

3. Read the Introduction Paragraph and the Options

ChatGPT will generate a paragraph describing your character, standing at the harbour in Aquilonia, setting the first scene for your quest.

It will give you five options:

1. • Three positive options that let you continue your adventure.

   • One negative option that ends the quest in failure.

   • One open-ended option that allows you to construct your own narrative.

(Remember that you can ask ChatGPT to use the language of your choice, if you are not a native English speaker.)

4. Pick the option that you want to pursue by telling ChatGPT your choice

For example: “2”

5. Move to the new location (if appropriate) and continue the Quest

 ChatGPT will continue the story from your chosen option, giving you new paragraphs and new choices at each step.

Keep selecting options to explore the city, complete challenges, and uncover new Roman adventures.

6. Ending the Quest

Your quest ends naturally if you pick a negative option or reach a conclusion in the story.

If you want to end the quest prematurely, just ask ChatGPT to do this, when you make your option choice.

For example: "I choose option 2 ... but could you also please end the quest at this stage."
