Tuesday, September 21 (4th and 6th Periods)

OUR PRIMARY SOURCES TODAY ARE:

• THE GREAT STUPA AT SANCHI, INDIA

• ANGKOR WAT, CAMBODIA

You will need your laptop or device, your notebook, and a sheet of notebook paper to turn in:

1) Write your name, today's date, and class period on your notebook paper, and the title "Unit 1.3 Primary Sources"

2) Go to Google Earth (click here)

• Find the "search" icon (magnifying glass) and search for the Great Stupa at Sanchi, India

• Find the little "man" icon in the lower right corner and click and drag him until you see blue lines appear - drop him over the Great Stupa (the larger one)

• Explore the stupa - walk around it, look at the carvings, look at the people who are visiting...think about what you are seeing...think about the carvings...does any of it look familiar? What questions do you want to ask? Jot your questions down in your NOTEBOOK, they are not for me, they are for YOU.

• Do a second search for Angkor Wat...also click and drag the "man" symbol and explore the monument. Observe the building and carvings, the people. What questions do you want to ask? Again, write these in your notebook.

3) Go to the page linked here and follow the directions for Unit 1.3 Primary Sources. You will need your sheet of notebook paper for this part of the assignment.
