In this project we focused on designing and constructing a double-tube heat exchanger that could transfer heat between two process fluids using a multi-pass parallel flow design. We considered water as the working fluid for both tubes, with the inner pipe made of Copper (Cu) and the outer pipe made of Mild Steel (MS). Several software tools, including Solidworks, HTRI, and ANSYS were employed to design and analyze our model. The aim of the project was to develop an efficient heat exchanger that could be used in a range of various different industrial applications.
It was able to hadle a mass flow rate of 0.3kg/s of water. It was able to decrease the temperature by 15°C.
