Prior Knowledge is all of the information a person brings to a new experience that can be used to help them make sense of what they're learning. This knowledge is extremely helpful because it allows a learner to link new information to things they already know in their brains, making it much easier to learn; however, prior knowledge can also be a problem. Not all prior knowledge is accurate or complete.
