Pi Day

3.14 Day!

On the 14th March we celebrated Pi Day. Pi is 3.14159…, in America the date is written with the month first 3/14 which is why it is celebrated then. Pi, or π, is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. Because it is irrational, it can't be written as a fraction. Instead, it is an infinitely long, nonrepeating number. To celebrate, the maths club organised a pie sale. There was some fantastic decorated “pies”. The students raised money to enjoy a treat day during their last maths lesson of the term. Great effort guys! If you would like to join the maths club, then come along to H2 at Break on a Thursday.
