Undergraduate Placements

Data

Data were extracted from the 2020-2023 periodic reports (n=295).  All data are self-reported and presented in aggregate.  Programs are asked to report graduates over a 6 year period (the length of time between periodic report submissions).

Data from the 2013-2018 periodic reports are included for comparison.  Note that the categories for placements changed from the 2018 periodic report to the 2020 through 2023 reports.  No periodic reports were submitted in 2019 and specific data on placements wasn't collected until the 2021 reports.

Placements 2020-2023

Generalized Placements

Figure 1:  Bar graph showing the placements of bachelor's degree recipients from 295 ACS Approved Institutions as reported on the 2020 through 2023 periodic reports.  This plot represents approximately 55,000 students.  For comparison to the earlier placement data, this plot shows generalized categories:  18% of students went on to graduate school, 20% to professional schools, 24% to industry, 2% to teaching, 5% were still seeking employment at the time the report was submitted, 31% had unknown outcomes.
