The Mechanical system of our robot was, naturally, vastly simplified by our DENSO arm that we were able to use. One of the important parts of our design involved the extrusion-based cart which supported our arm and all of the associated electronics that we used to control it. We definitely had the heaviest robot at the competition! This design had a few iterations (which can be seen on our media page), but ultimately put us just below the max height allowed by the competition (5ft).
Another main mechanical feature of our system was the pressure vessel and shooting system. This system was designed to operate up to 60psi, while providing us complete adjustability between 0 and 60psi with the use of a digital pressure sensor as feedback. It also included a modified blowgun that used a servo to release the pressure through the tube attached to the robot and out of the end effector.
