Terms of Use

App for Git · Effective September 24, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Zain UL Abideen ("we", "us") for your use of App for GitHub ("the app"). By using the app you accept them. They add to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; where the two differ, these terms apply.

The app

The app lets you browse and work with git repositories on your Mac and on GitHub. App for GitHub is an independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GitHub, Inc. GitHub and the GitHub logo are trademarks of GitHub, Inc.

Your accounts and repositories

You are responsible for the GitHub tokens you add and for keeping them safe. You are also responsible for what you do with your repositories through the app — including commits, resets, discarded changes, deleted branches and pushes, forced or not — and for keeping backups. The app asks before actions that rewrite or delete work, but it cannot undo them.

The assistant

The assistant answers questions about a repository using AI provided by Google. Its answers can be incomplete or wrong, so check anything important before relying on it. Only ask about repositories you are allowed to share with a third party, and don't use it for anything unlawful or harmful. We may limit or change the assistant, or stop offering it.

Free use and Premium

The app is free to use. The free version includes one assistant question; more questions, and switching to branches other than a repository's main branch, require Premium.

Premium is an auto-renewable subscription, sold monthly or yearly. The price and period are shown before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless it is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before that. You can manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings. If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

Services we rely on

The app works with GitHub, Google and Apple. Their services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them, for their availability, or for changes to them.

Intellectual property

The app and its content belong to us or our licensors. You may use it for your own purposes, as permitted by these terms and the App Store rules. Your repositories and their contents remain yours.

Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will never lose data.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

Apple

You and we agree that these terms are between you and us only, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, and claims that it infringes a third party's intellectual property. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Ending use

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end your access if you break these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. The new version will be published with a new effective date, and continuing to use the app after that means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the developer is based, except where the law of your country of residence gives you rights that can't be waived.
