Common questions
How do I sign in to GitHub?
Choose File › Add Account… (or Settings › Accounts) and paste a personal access token. You can create one on GitHub under Settings › Developer settings › Personal access tokens. A classic token with the repo scope covers everything the app does. For GitHub Enterprise, enter your company's host instead of github.com.
How do I open a repository that's on my Mac?
Choose File › Add Local Repository… (⇧⌘O) and pick the repository's folder. You can remove it again in Settings › Repositories; that only removes it from the app, never from your Mac.
Can I clone a repository from GitHub?
Yes. Open the repository from your GitHub account and click Clone in the toolbar to copy it to your Mac.
Do I need SSH keys?
No. The app talks to GitHub over HTTPS using your token. Remotes written as SSH addresses, such as git@github.com:owner/repo.git, work too.
What does Premium include?
Everything else in the app is free. The free version includes one assistant question; Premium adds unlimited assistant questions and switching to branches other than a repository's main branch. Premium is a monthly or yearly subscription, with the price shown before you buy.
How do I cancel, restore or get a refund?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Cancel any time in your App Store subscription settings. On a new Mac, choose Settings › Premium › Restore Purchases. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What does the assistant send, and how do I turn it off?
Nothing is sent until you allow it. After that, each question sends your question and details of the repository you're asking about to our server, which passes them to Google Gemini to write the answer. Your GitHub token is never sent. Turn it off in Settings › Assistant. The Privacy Policy has the details.
How do I remove my token and data?
Remove an account in Settings › Accounts to delete its token from your Mac's Keychain, and remove repositories in Settings › Repositories. You can also revoke the token on GitHub at any time. Everything else the app stores is on your Mac and goes when you delete the app.
How do I change the app's language?
Choose one in Settings › General › Language, then relaunch the app. System Default follows your Mac's language.
