App for Git · Effective September 24, 2026

App for GitHub ("the app") is a Mac app for working with git repositories and GitHub, made by Zain UL Abideen ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: we don't run accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and almost everything stays on your Mac.

What stays on your Mac

What goes to GitHub

To show your repositories, issues and pull requests, and to clone, fetch and push, the app talks directly to GitHub over HTTPS using your token. That information is handled under GitHub's Privacy Statement.

The assistant (optional)

The assistant sends nothing until you allow it, and after that only when you ask a question. Each question sends, over HTTPS, your question and details of the repository you are asking about to our server, which passes them to Google's Gemini service to write the answer:

Your GitHub token is never sent. Files that usually hold secrets — such as .env files, private keys and certificates — are never read, and passwords written into remote addresses are removed. Our server only relays the request and the answer; it does not keep the content of your questions. Google processes the request under Google's Privacy Policy and its terms for the Gemini service. You can withdraw permission at any time in Settings › Assistant.

AI answers can be wrong. Don't ask the assistant about repositories you aren't allowed to share with a third party.

Purchases

Premium is sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment, and we never receive your payment details. The app checks your subscription with Apple on your Mac. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

What we don't do

We don't collect analytics or crash reports, show advertising, track you across apps or websites, or sell or share personal information.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Keeping or deleting your information

Everything the app stores is on your Mac. Remove an account in Settings › Accounts to delete its token from the Keychain, remove repositories in Settings › Repositories, and delete the app to remove the rest. You can also revoke tokens at any time on GitHub. Because we hold no personal information on our own systems, there is nothing for us to delete, but you can email us at zain.reachout@gmail.com with any request or question about your privacy rights.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published with a new effective date, and significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.

Contact

For questions about this policy or your privacy, email zain.reachout@gmail.com, or use Contact Us in the app's Settings.
