Enrollment in the Apostolate of the Suffering provides the following:
An opportunity to receive a Plenary Indulgence.
The Holy See has granted a Plenary Indulgence for all members of our Association, without distinction between the types of membership in the Apostolate of the Suffering.
- The indulgence is granted under the usual conditions: Confession, Communion, Prayer for the Holy Father, and a renewing of the promise to observe faithfully the rules of the Association on the following occasions: your day of enrollment, and on the Feast Days of our Lord and Our Lady.
Members receive The Anchor publication and other informative mailings of events.
Members will be remembered in the works and prayers of the Apostolate of the Suffering and the Silent Workers of the Cross, and the Masses offered by our Priests.
Types of Membership:
Under The guidance and support of the Silent Workers of the Cross, the Apostolate is made-up of three types of members:
1) The Volunteers of Suffering, the most important members without whom there would be no Apostolate of the Suffering.
These are the ill who voluntarily offer their suffering to our Lord through our Blessed Mother hence their title “volunteer of suffering.”
(This does not mean they have asked for or desire to suffer, but it does mean they have accepted that which they cannot change and are offering it up to save souls.)
Note: Suffering is not limited to physical illness. Many healthy-looking people suffer greatly,
mentally, morally or spiritually.
2) The Brothers and Sisters of the Sick are able- bodied men and women who join the sick, understanding that all who live in the grace of God must carry the cross together with Christ for the salvation of souls.
They help sustain the sick through catering to their needs in their surroundings, in the work of evangelizing, promoting their human and social welfare, and through their participation in the activities of the Apostolate.
3) The Marian Priest League, Made-up of priests, both secular and religious, healthy, and ill, with particular attention to priests in need of any kind of assistance.
United in their love for the Lord and our Heavenly Mother, these priests are resolved to sustain the Apostolic Mission of the Holy Father, bishops, and priests, by their prayers and the offering of their sufferings.
Upon joining the Apostolate of the Suffering, we are kindly asking for your goodwill donation according to your means, to help defray the expense of the quarterly publications and other related mailings.
