Marginal farm households take decisions under extreme risk and uncertainty, and hence need better foresight of the challenges that lie

ahead so that they can ensure that the knowledge, investment and policy are relevant to their current and future development needs. An

integrated observation and decision-making aoolication package is a necessary first step for developing locally adapted CSC agroforestry

systems with a sustainable business perspective. Such applications offer the opportunity to serve as an effective collective learning platform,

integrating the experience and perspectives of growers, technicians, field organizations, researchers and value chain actors.

Currently, few such integrated tools are available in the market. Mostly they have been developed and marketed by for-profit companies

and are not designed for collective learning. Many also demand use of licensed, expensive software. In contrast, these applications

are freely downloaded public goods with no user cost and designed for collective learning. Maintenance and access of

these application, will supported by a non-profit development organization RIKOLTO who will coordinate the training for the use of the applications.
