Sohail Inayatullah

Professor Sohail Inayatullah is a political scientist and futurist. He is the UNESCO Chair of Futures Studies; professor at the Graduate Institute of Futures Studies, Tamkang University, Taiwan; Adjunct professor in the Faculty of Arts and Business, the University of the Sunshine Coast; and Associate with Melbourne Business School, the University of Melbourne. Inayatullah has authored and edited 32 books and over 300 journal articles, book chapters, and reviews and worked with organisations and governments around the world to create their own alternative and desired futures.

Susann Roth

Dr. Susann Roth works on ADB’s innovation and knowledge management agenda. In this role she supports the implementation of Strategy 2030, which calls for more applications of technology, innovation, and strengthening knowledge management in ADB operations. Susann also works on corporate foresight to enhance the capacity of ADB and its clients to respond to and plan for emerging trends.

Pun-Arj Chairatana

Dr. Pun-Arj Chairatana is currently the Executive Director of Thailand National Innovation Agency (NIA), a Public Organization under Ministry of Science and Technology. The agency is a leader of Ministry of Science and Technology MOST STARTUP, one of seven Ministry’s flagship clusters. Previously PAC was the CEO of Noviscape Consulting Group.

Lloyd Vatanakovarun

Lloyd Vatanakovarun is Executive Director at Ananda Development Public Company. He is part of Ananda 2.0 leadership to transform the organization to catch the wave of disruptive technologies and create new businesses which involves M&A activities to drive growth. Representing Singularity University of the Silicon Valley to bring Ananda and other organizations in the region to become exponential organizations and support innovation ecosystem. He is also serving as innovation working group for Thai government to support policy changes to drive the country towards Thailand 4.0 strategies.

Jost Wagner

Jost Wagner is one of the most experienced facilitation experts in Asia with a focus on development issues. A former development expert himself he advises and facilitates strategy workshops, multi-stakeholder dialogues and international conferences around the globe on behalf of organizations such as the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, United Nations, German Development Agency (GIZ) and many more. He is an active promoter for Futures Literacy. He is the conference director for the APFN 2019 and was the main organizer for the APFN 2018 in Bangkok.

Chor Pharn Lee

As the Principal Strategist of the Strategy Group of the Prime Minister’s Office, Chor Pharn helps to steer and support the Group and agencies’ foresight research agendas, translate into strategy at whole-of-government platforms, build expert capability for a pipeline of strategists in the whole-of-government network, and forge strategic partnerships with foresight units globally.

Prior to working for the Strategy Group, Chor Pharn was the Deputy Director, Futures and Strategy Division at the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), overseeing strategic foresight and futures thinking to support economic policy analysis and development at the Ministry. His earlier appointments were in China, as the Deputy Center Director, China Office of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), where he was responsible for increasing awareness and penetration of Singapore IT solutions and raising awareness of Singapore’s e-government capabilities for the China market. Other roles include international policy work on Singapore’s infocomm interests at APEC and ASEAN, and assisting local enterprise needs in going international.

Lam Shee Wan

Lam Wee Shann is the Chief Innovation & Technology Officer at the Land Transport Authority of. Singapore. He joined Land Transport Authority in Feb 2017 to lead a newly formed Technology & Industry Development group. The group is responsible for overall coordination of technology efforts as well as to develop land transport industry, in particular, in the manpower development area. Before being appointed to his present post, he set up the Futures Division in Ministry of Transport in Oct 2013. Futures division generates foresight to shape the future of transport for Singapore, which include strategy formulation and the translation of foresight research into actionable policy insights. He had also served as the Director (Communications and Community Engagement) in the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore from 2009, where he was in charge of media relations, community engagement and organisation of key events such as the Singapore Maritime Week. Prior to his stints in the transport family, Wee Shann was with the Ministry of Defence and the Singapore Armed Forces.

H.E. Syed Murad Ali Shah

Syed Murad Ali Shahs is a Pakistani politician and structural engineer who is the 29th and current chief minister of Sindh and a member of the Sindh Assembly. He became a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in 2002 for the first time representing PS-77 Jamshoro-cum-Dadu (Old Dadu III). He was elected to the Sindh Assembly in 2008 as a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party and was the National Minister for Irrigation in Syed Qaim Ali Shah's cabinet. In 2013, he was made the national finance minister. In July 2016, Shah was elected to the chief minister's office.


Apiwat Ratanawaraha

Apiwat Ratanawaraha is an associate professor at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. His teaching and research cover urban land policy and management, infrastructure finance, technology and innovation policy, and strategic foresight. His ongoing research focuses on urban issues in Thailand, including the futures of Thai urban life, globalization of land, informal mobility, parking policy, and urban citizen science.


John A. Sweeney

Dr. John A. Sweeney is an award-winning author, designer, and futurist. As a practitioner, consultant, and educator, John has organized, managed, and facilitated workshops and seminars, multi-stakeholder projects, and foresight gaming systems in over 40 countries on six continents. At present, John is an Assistant Professor of Futures and Foresight at Narxoz University in Almaty, Kazakhstan where he serves as Director of the Qazaq Research Institute for Futures Studies.

Natalie Phaholyothin

Natalie Phaholyothin joined WWF-Thailand as CEO in January 2019. She brings with her extensive experience in global health where she oversaw The Rockefeller Foundation’s global health programs in Asia. As Associate Director at The Rockefeller Foundation, her work involved global advocacy for Universal Health Coverage, disease surveillance networks and building partnerships with other private foundations and donor institutions. In addition to the health programs, Natalie was seconded by The Rockefeller Foundation to serve as Asia Regional Director for the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP). In this capacity, she initiated a strategic portfolio of grants that served to build GRP’s Asia program and presence in the region. One component connected Asian digital technology innovators in the development sector with GRP and its network. Prior to joining The Rockefeller Foundation, she had worked with Education Development Center, UNDP, and IMF.


Shermon Cruz

Prof. Shermon Cruz is the founder, Director and lead instructor/facilitator of the Center for Engaged Foresight, a futures-thinking and strategic foresight innovation hub in the Philippines and the Asia Pacific. A professional futurist, he has collaborated with the best in the futures and strategic foresight field in designing transformative and cutting edge events and projects that integrate creativity, experimentation and innovation

Rushdi Abdul Rahim

Rushdi Abdul Rahim is a Senior Vice President for Malaysian Industry Government Group for High Technology or better known by the acronym MIGHT. He is also the Director of myForesight®, Malaysia’s National Foresight Institute. He oversees and manages various foresight & future related activities that is conducted by both MIGHT and myForesight®. He was also the Co-Chair for the working committee on Prioritization of Technologies for R&D under the National Science and Research Council (NSRC).

Sérgio Brodsky

Sérgio Brodsky (L.LM, MBA) is Head of Strategy and Innovation at Nunn Media. He is also a marketing lecturer at RMIT, columnist and editorial board advisor for Marketing Magazine, Chairman at The Marketing Academy Alumni and founder of strategic innovation consultancy SURGE. He is passionate about cities and culture and the role of brands and technology in society, an intersection from where he drew inspiration to conceive a radically innovative approach to brand communications he coined, Urban Brand-Utility.

Seong Won Park

Dr. Seongwon Park is currently a researcher at the National Assembly Futures Institute (NAFI). Prior to that he was an Associate Research Fellow at the Center for Strategic Foresight at the Science and Technology Policy Institute in South Korea. He received his PhD in the Alternative Futures Program from the Department of Political Science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is also a former researcher of the Hawaii Research Center for Future Studies. He was one of the organizers of the 3rd Asia-Pacific Futures Network Conference in Korea in Seoul in 2017.


Puruesh Chaudhary

Puruesh Chaudhary is a futures researcher, development and strategic narrative professional. She is the Founder and President of AGAHI, a non-governmental organization, which works extensively on creating platforms based on knowledge collaboration and information sharing initiatives. Pakistan Foresight Initiative, brainchild of of AGAHI is developing frameworks to improve policymaking and strategic narratives; structures enabling legislators, strategists, academicians and the community developing shared understanding for effective implementation of decisions. Championing “Shaping the future of journalism”, Chaudhary has co-founded Pakistan’s annual journalism awards (The Agahi Awards); content analysis framework (Media Credibility Index and Ethical Media Audit); created foresight research fellowship opportunities; and developed academic-industry linkages. She has also been recognized as a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum. She is an ASPEN Alumni, a member of the World Futures Society and is on the Planning Committee of the Millennium-Project (Global Futures Studies and Research) representing the Pakistan Chair.


Mei Mei Song

Dr. Mei-Mei Song, EdD is a futurist and an educator. She is an Associate Professor in the Graduate Institute of Futures Studies as well as the Founder and Director of the Center for Futures Intelligence and Research (C-FAR), Tamkang University, Taiwan. Dr. Song’s recent research centers around newer ways of teaching futures studies such as experiential futures, gamification of futures tools, and integration of futures thinking and design thinking, particularly in engineering education.

Louis (Keji) Zheng

Louis (Keji) Zheng is the Futurist-In-Residence, Innovation Consultant and Co-Founder of FuturistCircle, which is the first futurist community in China. Previously, he worked as a Business and Innovation Strategist at designaffairs, a global industrial design, and innovation studio, acquired by Accenture, and also started a business consultancy in Silicon Valley. Louis is an adjunct professor at ESSCA teaching innovation strategy and future thinking meanwhile the Greater-China-Ambassador of China America Innovation Network (CHAIN), a non-profit registered in California. He has been trained at Stanford University to be a professional futurist.

Arndt Husar

Arndt is a consultant advisor to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and other UN agencies on public sector reform, strategic foresight and innovation. His career in the development sector has rooted him in the Asia-Pacific region, with prior stints in the Americas, Europe and Africa. In his previous role as Deputy Director of the UNDP Global Centre for Public Service Excellence he was behind its activities on public service innovation and strategic foresight, a legacy that is now continued by the re-launched Global Centre with a new focus on Technology and Innovation.

Maya van Leeput

Maya van Leemput is a professional futurist combining research and consultancy with a co-creative multi-media practice. She is Lector Senior Researcher in Futures Research at the Erasmus Hogeschool Brussel. Maya completed her Ph.D. research at the University of Westminster in 02001, with a thesis on ‘Visions of the Future on Television‘. During her doctoral studies she taught ‘Methods for Social Sciences’ at the University of Westminster and the City University and worked at the BBC’s Tomorrow’s World for participatory observation.

Michael McAllum

Mike is a busy speaker, author and facilitator who draws our attention to the ways in which old, centralised, mechanistic and individualistic 20th Century systems have passed their use by dates, resulting in a multitude of existential challenges. The task is to understand our past and current habits and patterns of understanding and to create radically new narratives about ourselves and our futures.

Theresa Mathawaphan

Ms. Theresa Mathawaphan is the Chief Strategy Officer at National Innovation Agency National Innovation Agency, Thailand. Prior to this position she has worked for various major Thai companies in senior management positions such as Honest Bee, Central Group and aCommerce.

Michael Jackson

Mike is a Founder Member of ShapingTomorrow.com a unique and market leading, artificial intelligence led, web-based strategic forecasting, consumer insight and change management portal for corporate innovation, market research, government policy and risk management. He is known on conference platforms speaking on the future of all manner of subjects.

Jeanne Hoffman

Jeanne Hoffman is assistant Professor at Tamkang University,where she teaches Futures Studies. Professor Hoffman is also managing editor of the Journal of Futures Studies. She received her Phd from Macquarie University, Sydney Australia in the Centre for Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism (PICT). Jeanne previously worked in Queensland government for over ten years in the areas of economic modeling, development and analysis of transport surveys, project management, policy development, performance management, business planning, strategic planning and scenario planning.

Richard Hames

Professor Richard David Hames is a corporate philosopher, author and strategist who is widely considered to be one of the world's most influential, most pragmatic intellectuals and futurists. He was awarded the accolade of "one of the smartest people on the planet" by Forbes Asia. As one of the world's most eminent futurists Richard brings great authority to his work - his standing in the field being that of an elder statesman. As former Chairman of the Australian Foresight Institute in Melbourne, and the founding President of the Asian Foresight Institute in Bangkok

Nur Anisah

Dr Anisah is senior teaching fellow at Strathclyde University, Dubai. She is a member of the Association of Professional Futurists. She helps organisations plan strategically, and to design and develop performance measurement systems for organisational improvement. She uses foresight and scenario planning to help organisations go beyond just forecasting to the generation of preferred futures. Anisah has created Futures Sandbox, an initiative for transformative action learning and youth development.

Cesar Villanueva

Dr. Cesar H. Villanueva is the Director for Popular Peace Education at Pax Christi Institute and a part-time faculty teaching creative conflict transformation and reconciliation at the Graduate school at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. He is a consultant on conflict sensitivity using do no harm, conflict transformation, transformative mediation, peacebuilding and reconciliation. His works on peace futures and peace weaving have helped organizations and communities in the Philippines build equitable and sustainable peace. He is the national convenor of TRANSCEND Pilipinas, a peace, development and environment network affiliated with Johan Galtung. He is a fellow and a member of the Executive Board of the World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF) and its former Secretary General.

Anita Hazenberg

Anita Hazenberg assumed her current duties as the first Director of the Innovation Centre Directorate, INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore in 2017. The Innovation Centre was set up to engage global law enforcement in strategic futures planning and to co-create solutions to emerging law enforcement challenges. In the past 36 years of her career in the Netherlands Police, Ms Hazenberg was involved in various operational duties across the Netherlands specializing in ‘Violence against Women and Children’ and 'International Police Cooperation'. She progressed into the international foray to take up several trailblazing roles, including as the Director of the European Network of Policewomen (ENP); the first Programme Director 'Police and Human Rights' for the Council of Europe (France); the founder and first Director of the School for Police Leadership; the first Coordinator for International Strategic Alliances and Deployment of the Staff of the Dutch National Police Commissioner; and as the initiator and Conference Director of the global annual law enforcement think-tank consisting of top-level executives - ‘Pearls in Policing.’

Alessandro Fergnani

Alessandro Fergnani is head of scenario consulting at the strategic foresight web-based consultancy Shaping Tomorrow. Alessandro holds a master’s of Futures Studies form Tamkang University (Taipei), and is currently a PhD candidate in Management and Organisation at NUS Business School (Singapore). Alessandro gives futures and scenario planning workshops, teaches scenario planning and future vision EMBA courses and runs strategic foresight workshops for undergraduate students at NUS Business School.

Komiljon Karimov

Komiljon Karimov is currently the Rector of Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT). His experience includes working for Senior Officer positions at UN agencies such as UNESCO and UNICEF where he dealt with the development challenges in the area of Education and Healthcare. He has an extensive research interest and experience in the field of international education and he is the author of dozens of publications in this field. Dr. Karimov received his PhD in Political Sciences and International Relations from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent.

Marc Lepage

Marc Lepage is technology Innovations specialist at Asian Development Bank. He has been working for more than 20 years in the area of innovation, information and communication technologies (ICT) and knowledge for sustainable development with a focus on Africa, Middle East and Asia. Prior to joining the ADB he has worked for more than a decade for the United Nations being based in Ethiopia and Senegal.

Marcus Anthony

Dr. Marcus T Anthony(马思远)is Associate Professor at College of Global Talent (CGT) and a Futures Facilitator. He teaches courses in Futures Studies, including in the CGT Honours Programme, of which he is a key designer. Dr Anthony is also the coordinator of the CGT Global Talent 2050 Platform, which seeks to design ideal futures. He is also a Futures advisor for the Research and Development Centre for Future Civilisation and Talent (未来文明与人才发展中心) at the Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai.

Peter Black

Dr Peter Black is a foresight practitioner and veterinary epidemiologist with extensive experience in addressing emerging infectious disease challenges. He has dedicated much of his veterinary career to animal biosecurity and welfare working on disease surveillance, emergency management, livestock production systems and emerging infectious diseases. Most recently Peter worked for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) based in Bangkok for four years dealing with transboundary animal diseases—most particularly zoonoses such as avian influenza viruses. Foresight approaches have underpinned his work focused on building better anticipation, preparedness, prevention, detection and response capabilities. His work also highlights and questions the choices societies make about future food system development.

Elissa Farrow

Elissa Farrow is a consultant and academic researcher and is based in Brisbane, Australia. In 2018 Elissa commenced her doctoral studies through the University of the Sunshine Coast. Her published research is exploring the area of organisational change and adaptation to the evolving field of artificial intelligence using future’s methodologies. Elissa is a founder and lead consultant for About Your Transition and has extensive experience in strategic organisational adaptation design and delivery. Elissa has supported organisations to define positive futures and then successfully transform to bring lasting benefits. She has worked within a range of industries in both Australia and the Asia Pacific Region

Kee Young Yoon

Dr. Kee Young Yoon is Adjunct Professor of Futures studies at Hankook Univ. of Foreign Studies (HUFS) & Member of The Board of Directors in The Korean Association For Futures Studies. He is also the chairmain of FnS Consulting, Futures Strategy Research Center.

Bharat Dahiya

An award-winning Urbanist, Bharat's research and professional work has focused on sustainable urbanization, strategic urban planning and development, urban upgrading, urban environment and infrastructure, urban resilience, and community-driven development. During his work at the World Bank, UN-Habitat, Asian Development Bank and UNDP, he initiated, led and contributed to technical assistance and operational projects on sustainable urban development in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. He conceptualized and coordinated the preparation of United Nations’ first-ever report on The State of Asian Cities 2010/11. He is Series Editor for the Springer book series, Advances in 21st Century Human Settlements. Bharat holds a PhD in Urban Governance, Planning and Environment from the University of Cambridge, UK.

Jose Ramos

Dr. José Maria Ramos is director of the boutique foresight consultancy Action Foresight, is Senior Consulting Editor for the Journal of Futures Studies, and is Senior Adjunct Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast. He has also co-founded numerous civil society organizations, a social forum, a maker lab, an advocacy group for commons governance, and a peer to peer leadership development group for mutant futurists. He is originally from California of Mexican ancestry.

Hyeonju Son

Dr.Hyeonju Son is is a lecturer in the Department of Sociology and researcher in the Korean Researcher Institute of Science, Technology and Civilization, both at Chonbuk National University, South Korea. His research interests include the futures of South Korea, Scenario analysis, and Artificial Intelligence. He has published extensively on the topics.

Ittinat Seeboonruang

Ittinat Seeboonruang is currently the Deputy Director of the Change Initiative and a professional facilitator who uses foresight tools in his facilitation practice. Being fluent in English, German and Thai he works with a growing number of Thai organizations.

Shakil Ahmed

Shakil Ahmed is Associate Director of Public Affairs at Teach For Bangladesh. Involved in the education sector for 10 years, teaching thinking skills to kindergarteners in Singapore to designing low-cost school models at the BRAC Institute of Educational Development. His Bachelors was in theoretical physics at the National University of Singapore and his Masters was in Educational Leadership and School Improvement at BRAC University. His interests in futures, education and storytelling aligns towards his goal of helping out communities-in-need to do research to solve their problems and the problems of others. Accordingly, Shakil has engaged a spectrum of entities ranging from the Prime Minister's Office, Save the Children, BRAC, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and individuals in foresight and storytelling workshops.

Adam Sharpe

Adam has recently become an emerging foresight practitioner. Adam has worked with some of the world's biggest brands in the areas of human resource development, youth empowerment, branding and communications. He has also built regional pro-social campaigns for the United Nations and MTV EXIT. He has recently founded 21CW, a training and development company specializing in 21st Century Skills development.

Daniel Riveong

Daniel is a futurist based in Spain. He previously led the regional Asian office for an international digital consultancy. He led C-level workshops in media, marketing, and analytics in Europe, Asia, and the US. Most recently, he piloted a data science school in Jakarta. He has an MS in Foresight (Future Studies) from the University of Houston. In 2018 he was an emerging Fellow at the Association of Professional Futurists, where he wrote on new prosperity models for the Global South.

Vivek Raman

Vivek is an experienced Water and Sanitation and Knowledge Management Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the international trade and development industry. Skilled in Sustainable Development, International Relations, Knowledge Management. Prior to working for the Asian Development he worked in Washington DC as an operations officer and also as a Knowledge Management specialist for the Independent Evaluation Group.

Bridgette Engeler

Dr. Bridgette Engeler teaches and works at the Faculty of Health, Arts and Design at Swinburne University of Technology in Australia. Bridgette is a “pracademic” working across design, foresight and innovation at Swinburne University. Her work combines prospective thinking, research and strategy at the nexus of culture, futures, design and technology.

Tiago Ribeiro

Tiago Ribeiro is an Urban Development Specialist within the ADB Pacific Department managing projects in Timor-Leste and the Marshall Islands. Prior to joining ADB, Mr. Ribeiro was an Urban Development Specialist at Aguas de Portugal Internacional (AdP) in Lisbon. He was a Team leader of the Twinning Partnership Program between the State Amelioration and Water Management Committee of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan and AdP funded by the ADB to improve the O&M and asset management of the water supply and sanitation urban infrastructures. He was the General Director for AdP in Timor-Leste in 2013-2014 supporting the implementation of the Sanitation and Drainage Masterplan in Dili and a Team Leader/Water Supply Specialist in IMVF, a Portuguese NGO working in Flores Island, Indonesia in 2011-2013.
