Bus No 3247 leaves from the airport to central Bilbao (Termibus-San Mamés) from 06:15 to 00:00, every 15 minutes. On the way to the airpot, the same bus leaves from Bilbao (Termibus-San Mamés) from 05:15 to 10:00, every 15 minutes. Please check with the Bizkaibus web site for possible changes and updates.
A taxi from the airport to the center of Bilbao costs approximately 30-35 euro. There are several radio taxi companies (for example, taxibilbao.com/ or teletaxibilbao.com/en/.)
From the airport to Bilbao Termibus at San Mamés
You can easily purchase a "Barik card" for using with public transportation in Bilbao: see here. This card can be found at automatic ticket machines in metro stations and in some kiosks, and costs €3.
Once you have this card you can load it with credit and use it for buses, trams, and metro in the general Bilbao area and suburbs. The cost of each trip depends on the zones you are going through.

The Department of Mathematics of the University of the Basque country (U) is located at the Bizkaia campus in Leioa. Several buses connect to the campus from various areas in Bilbao. Please check the website of Bizkaibus for more information (navigate to "special routes" and then to "University of the Basque country".
