I have always had a huge love for animals, which I primarily blamed on the show Dora and Deigo growing up. On career day, I often said I wanted to be a Veterinarian, a Groomer, or something else that involved animals. I later realized I loved rescuing, and saving animals' lives that way. A large portion of this dream, came from Buster.
In the summer between 7th and 8th grade, my mom moved me and my brother from Missouri to College Station, Texas. I begged my mom for a large dog, and on the way, she surprised me with Buster.
Buster was found on the side of a highway in Oklahoma, by my moms-friends-daughter. He bounced from home to home, until it was decided that we would take him. Buster was about 1 year old.
We quickly realized that Buster had some trauma of his own. We believe that he was physically abused, and neglected by previous owners, and while on the street, may of had to fight for food. He was incredibly dog reactive, and had a tendency to not be a fan of strangers. We got a professional trainer, which helped with his reactivity significantly. The problem? We failed to keep up with his training, and he resorted back to his old tendencies.
When I moved out for college, I told my mom I was taking him with me. My brother and her did not think this was a good idea initially, but I convinced them in the end. Me and Buster then got our first apartment.
I ran into a problem, I loved having a protective dog, but what was the point in having a protective dog if I couldn't take him anywhere? Thus, my training with Buster began. I trained him as much as possible, and eventually got him to a point where he could walk through crowds of people, or sit and watch a baseball game, and he would not be reactive.
Unfortunately, in October of 2025, Buster passed away at the age of (about) 11.
Due to his dog reactivity, I was unable to rescue while he was with us. Shortly after his passing, I decided it was time to launch the rescue I have been dreaming of for years. I promised Buster that I would save as many lives as possible, in his memory. He is the face of All Pets Deserve A Home.
The thing that always got me about Buster, was that if he would have been taken to a shelter, I have no doubt that he would have been euthanized due to his behavior; but, his behavior was fixable. Without consistency, I was still able to make tremendous progress with him, starting when he was already 6. He made me believe that rescues can be helped, rehabilitated, and become perfect pets for the right homes. Buster had the odds against him, and would not have been a good dog for most families, but, he was perfect for mine.
Due to my work in the animal industry, I realized that there is a huge need for a place for people to surrender their pets. Far too often, due to unforeseen circumstances, people are faced with having to give up their pet, and desperately search for a rescue they can trust to take care of, and adopt out their beloved pet to a safe new home. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming population of pets, most shelters and rescues are unable to take in these pets, and occasionally, the owner is forced to euthanize. I have dedicated this rescue to provide another option, one that can help owners, and their pets.
