Summer Assignment
On the first day of class, these assignments are due. Let us start the year on a good foot and have everything completed. If you do not have these assignments, you will earn a zero.
Art Investigation
Fill out the art investigation worksheet. This worksheet will help guide you toward selecting your sustained investigation topic.
Guiding Questions
Once you finalize your topic, fill out the sustained investigation worksheet to help you delve deeper into your project idea.
Sustained Investigation 1
Size, material, and topic are up to you!
It must reflect your responses to the guiding questions and art investigation worksheets.
It needs to be an AP-quality work of art, meaning you can submit it in your portfolio without changing anything.
This will count as a project grade.
Submission Preparation
Bring your completed art investigation, guiding questions worksheet, and sustained investigation project on the first day of class. In addition to these items, you must bring your project sketches, in-progress pictures, and final pictures.
You should be prepared to pitch your sustained investigation idea and piece on the first day of class.
Tips
Don't forget your 3D design elements of art and principles of design. These are the bases of successful works of art. Try choosing one or two from each to help focus your project.
Elements of 3D Design: Space, line, shape, form, color, texture, value, plane, point, layer, mass/volume, transparency/opacity
Principles of 3D Design: Balance, emphasis, contrast, proportion, repetition, unity, variety, rhythm, movement, connection, juxtaposition, hierarchy, and time
Don't forget your rules of composition: Rule of thirds (keep the focal point of the center), odd numbers (odd numbers and asymmetry are more pleasing to the eye), simplification (letting objects fill the page and go off the edge of the page), and use of line (lines help move the viewer's eye around the page).
