I absolutely LOVED AOK! Back in 2009, I couldn’t wait for step practices, fundraisers, community service, and business meetings! What I loved most about AOK was that it was different than the other organizations in Tuscaloosa at the time. We stood out. We were leaders! We were fearless. We were bold! AOK taught me to be bold, to be confident, and most importantly…to be professional! The long-lasting bonds with sisters and advisors, even to this day, is unmatched! AOK isn’t just a “group,” but a family built to help young women with the tools they need to be successful in college and the real world! AOK teaches young Black girls how to respectfully present themselves! 14 years later, I still use the tools I gained from this organization and look forward to sharing my experience, being a light, and encouraging the new members to come.

I chose AOK because I wanted to be around a group of girls who support, care, and love one another, no matter what. With AOK, I got so much more: a sisterhood where we cherish each other. We laugh together and we cry together when things get tough. Everything is not always picture-perfect, but that’s what makes it special to me. AOK gave me bonds and memories with my sisters that are irreplaceable. AOK is my sisterhood.

I chose to join AOK because I saw how this organization was giving back to the community. While looking at their social media, I learned what they value and how they value it. I was looking for an organization in my community that would meet my standards and that would help in preparing me for life after high school. After so much research and going through the process of elimination, I was sure that AOK was right for me.

I chose AOK because they stood out from other youth groups I had seen because of community involvement, dress-up Wednesdays, and that I had heard nothing but great things about AOK. Being a part of AOK has given me the opportunity to learn a lot and create so many wonderful moments and experiences like travel, business meetings, meeting new people, and strutting. I'm thankful to be a part of AOK and it will always be a part of who I am.

I chose to join AOK because I wanted to feel a sense of belonging and to be a part of something that exhibited good character in its members. After a friend showed me their application, I checked the page and saw a lot of beautiful young women who seemed closer than ever. That was something I desired. Also, knowing that I could get community service hours and extra assistance with school and my personal life provided me with the extra push I needed to make my decision. With that, I decided it was worth giving AOK a try, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!

I joined AOK because I saw an opportunity to get out of my shell and get more involved with the community. AOK has helped me with so many things, especially my personal growth and learning new skills. It has shown me that I can accomplish anything if I work hard to accomplish my goals. It has shown me that being in an environment with open-minded individuals can allow us to conquer anything. Honestly, I didn’t just choose AOK; AOK chose me.

I decided to join AOK because it’s based on leadership and serving the community. I love AOK because this organization made me realize how much my voice matters in the world. I love my sisters so much because they welcomed me with open arms, and I thank them for that. This organization helped me get out of my shell and made me become more open to new opportunities.

I made the decision to join AOK because it seemed to be the only organization for African American girls in Tuscaloosa that prioritizes community service and places emphasis on opportunities available to us in college. What I did not know was that I was signing up for an amazing long lasting-bonds with my sisters and advisors, which serves as a support system outside of my family. This organization has also taught me and my sisters priceless life lessons to prepare us for the future. Being in AOK pushes me to become the successful young lady I am striving to be in the future.

I decided to join AOK because it is a group of young ladies around my age who want to give back to the community. What I love about AOK is that it has gotten me out of my shell in a fun and exciting way. It has also prepared me for what I plan to do after high school, like learning how to appropriately dress in business casual attire, attending social events and business meetings, and getting used to public speaking. If building long-lasting friendships with a group of outgoing young ladies sounds interesting, then AOK may be the perfect fit for you.

I chose AOK because of all the wonderful things it stands for. Alpha Omicron Kappa helps young black girls by teaching us how to professionally and respectfully present ourselves. That alone caught my attention because that is something I was never taught. AOK does a lot in the community by giving back and helping people in need, and I love helping and being useful for the benefit of others.
