There is no specific MLA formula for citing images, charts, maps and other visual material in the body of a paper or on a slide in a slideshow presentation. For Anzar, the expectation is that students will conform to the basic principle of citation. Readers and viewers should be able to easily find the visual’s original source by either clicking on a link, finding the resource online, or obtaining the print original.
To cite media in a works cited page there are a variety of formulas depending the type of media and where it is found.
For images on slides in a slideshow where URLs are available only use the short URLs for the websites, or a shortened form of the name of the website (without www, or .com, etc.). Using long URLs will detract from the paper or presentation. The full citation for the work should be located on the works cited page at the end of the paper or project.
Introduce the resource information below the image with Source:
Type the URL or the name of the website, not the image page URL, which is usually too long.
Another way to include the URL is to type the name of the website and highlight the words. Go to the Insert menu--choose Link--- and type in the URL.
