We are looking for motivated students to develop energy-efficient and sustainable thermal systems for buildings and vehicles. The projects will involve both simulations and experiments. Please write to me at agoyal@mech.iitd.ac.in with a brief expression of interest in any of these topics, along with your latest CV and transcripts from all levels of education.
PhD Candidate Qualifications: B.Tech/M.Tech./MS (Research) in mechanical engineering with an excellent academic record (CGPA greater than 8.0/10) at all levels of education. The candidate should have some understanding of the design process for thermofluid systems (heat exchangers, components, or systems), and basic knowledge of software such as MATLAB/COMSOL/OpenFOAM and programming in MATLAB/Python for solving numerical problems in thermofluid engineering. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a plus.
Project Topics
a. Modeling and simulations of supercritical CO2 refrigeration systems with integrated ice thermal energy storage (Supported by: Carrier Commercial Refrigeration, India and Germany)
b. Thermochemical heat pumps and energy storage systems for heat recovery and upgrade, and HVAC (Supported by: Daimler Trucks Innovation Center India Pvt. Ltd.)
c. Liquid desiccant dehumidification and air-conditioning system for low-cost and energy-efficient cooling in Indian climates.
