We are looking for motivated UG and PG students to develop energy-efficient and sustainable thermal systems for buildings and mobile applications. The projects will involve both simulations and experiments. Please write to me at agoyal@mech.iitd.ac.in with a brief expression of interest in any of these topics, along with your latest CV and transcripts from all levels of education.
PhD Candidate Qualifications: B.Tech/M.Tech./MS (Research) in mechanical engineering with an excellent academic record (CGPA greater than 8.0/10) at all levels of education. The candidate should have some understanding of the design process for thermofluid systems (heat exchangers, components, or systems), and basic knowledge of software such as MATLAB/COMSOL/OpenFOAM and programming in MATLAB/Python for solving numerical problems in thermofluid engineering. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a plus.
Project Topics
a. Modeling and simulations of supercritical CO2 refrigeration systems with integrated ice thermal energy storage
b. Simulations and experiments on phase-change thermal energy storage systems for HVAC applications
c. Thermochemical heat pumps and energy storage systems for heat recovery and upgrade, and HVAC
d. Advanced model predictive control algorithms for HVAC systems
