Teak Wood, Reclaimed Wood, and New Wood
Joglo houses made from teak wood — whether reclaimed (old wood) or new — are quite easy to maintain. For interior parts like wooden pillars, walls, ceilings, and carved details, regular cleaning using a dry cloth or soft duster is usually enough.
To keep the natural shine and beauty of the wood, you can use furniture polish sprays (such as PLEDGE), which are widely available in hardware stores.
Exterior parts of the Joglo house are more exposed to sun and rain, so the surface of the wood may turn grayish over time, especially for teak wood.
This is a natural process and does not affect the strength of the wood. Just clean off dust and dirt regularly. If you wish to bring back the original color of the wood, you can do light sanding and apply a natural wood finish again.
Reclaimed (old) wood usually has stronger character and richer grain but still needs protection from excess moisture and termites. New wood looks fresher and may need initial protection with anti-fungal or UV-resistant coatings.
Make sure your Joglo house has good air circulation to keep the wood dry and long-lasting.
We always use high-quality wood for every Joglo house we build, and we’re happy to provide maintenance tips based on the type of wood used — so your home stays beautiful, strong, and full of cultural value for many years to come.
