The inaugural Algebra and Number Theory Meeting at UERJ is dedicated to celebrating the birthday of Professor Amílcar Pacheco, whose mathematical career has been devoted to research and teaching in number theory and arithmetic geometry.
A former Full Professor at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and currently a professor at UERJ, Professor Pacheco has worked extensively on the arithmetic of algebraic curves and abelian varieties, rational points, function fields, and related questions in Diophantine geometry.
His academic career includes research appointments and collaborations at institutions such as Harvard University, the Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu in Paris, and the University of Oxford.
The 1st ANTM-UERJ brings together colleagues, collaborators, former students, and friends to celebrate his birthday through three days of mathematical lectures, discussions, and special commemorative activities.
Join us in celebrating Professor Amílcar Pacheco and his mathematical career.
A birthday celebration and dinner will take place on Tuesday, October 27, from 18:30 to 20:00, following the in-person scientific activities at UERJ.
The occasion will provide an opportunity for colleagues and friends to gather in honor of Professor Pacheco.
The meeting will conclude on Thursday, October 29, with an online discussion and tribute dedicated to Professor Pacheco, scheduled from 17:00 to 18:00 Brasília Time.
The session will include the participation of Aurélien Galateau.
Through this combination of scientific exchange and celebration, we hope to make the inaugural ANTM-UERJ a memorable occasion for Professor Pacheco and the participating mathematical community.
