My name is Anthony Normand, and I have had a passion for engineering as long as I can remember. I have always been interested in mechanical engineering and have decided to pursue it as a career. However, I want to continue learning as much as I can about all types of engineering to have more knowledge and a better understanding of the differences between them. Throughout my life, I have loved cars and powerful engines even more. This is what has gotten me into mechanical engineering.
I am now in high school, and I am in my second year of Engineering at Dr. James A. Forest Career and Technology Center. I have gotten several certifications through this program, and the experience has made me understand the career I want to pursue. My current goal is to continue to keep my grades up and then go to college to get my degree.
I have done some projects outside of school in which I have learned some things about structural engineering. I did most of these projects with my father, who has a background and some knowledge in engineering. I gained important knowledge about stabilization and how to design structures so that they are able to last longer, and how to protect them so that the weather doesn't affect them.
My plans for after graduation are to attend the College of Southern Maryland and complete my undergrad classes first. I want to do this because it will save some money, and then I can transfer to a university to finish the rest. This will help me achieve my goal of getting my degree in mechanical engineering and start seeking employment.
When I achieve my career goal, I will have my degree in mechanical engineering and have a stable job that generates enough income for me to be able to live and have extra that I can save for retirement and classic cars.
