My approach to UI revolves around Simplicity, Intuitive, Neutral, and Feature Focused. I try to ground my designs to guidelines so i can gauge the best way to bridge the gap between form and function. Building a UI, like anything else, will come with challenges. I find that universal design doesn't guarantee that it will be perfect for everyone so creating design that fits the bell curve is the best target to aim for.
The shift into UX Design was a gradual but inevitable one. When working on UI design earlier in my career, I found myself crossing over into UX Practices in order to solve for design issues that I would run into when creating the look, feel and style guide standards.
The shift between print and digital media over the lifespan of my career pushed me to find a way to bridge the two when something that i designed had to span across multiple medias. Visual presentations to help branding and raising awareness of product and services takes a lot into consideration.
Anytime I can enhance the value that is being projected through your marketing campaign, i consider it a win for your design. Social media applies some different tactics but the fundamentals remain the same. I try to make sure my design approach is capable of translating across platforms and medias so it can have more impact in assisting marketing efforts.
I’ve been involved in art since I was a child. When the time came I attended Michigan State University to turn my passion into a career. During that time I had to transition what i knew about art into design, expanding my understanding of how to navigate the challenge of balancing form & function.
