Solo performance at Continuum art space, invited by Föhn
this would be a safe space
for you to fall asleep in front of me
your thoughts start to wander away and you would be the softest spectator
I pull a thread
as much as it pushes me
During 1 hour, every Friday afternoon, I locked myself in the Variable room, alone with a camera.
I had no prior intentions other than the constraint of being present, in this space, in front of the camera.
A body, stripped of any other goal than being there.
Giving something to see, waiting for time to go by.
Feeling watched by my own future sight, anticipating the moment of viewing the recordings.
Trying to provide something to see, without knowing what it should be.
I tried to role play a little bit, I even did a few catwalks.
tapping of the hands,
on the walls, the body
jumping
lying on the ground
stretching
ludicrous walking
perpendicular walking
yawning
overacted dancing
backward walking
self hugging
plays of legs and feet
These gestures stemmed from privacy and introspection were then transformed into a group choreography, replayed and interpreted by other bodies.
The performers are taught the movements.
They can reinterpret them in any way they want.
They create their own choreography, choosing which and how many movements they want to perform.
The performers are fenced in on one side of the room, by an imaginary wall.
They shouldn’t look at each others, nor at the spectators.
They can leave the space at any moment.
