Anouk Sraka was born in 1997 in Dordogne, France. They integrated the Fine Arts School of Bordeaux in 2016, and graduated in 2020 with honors.
Their work collapses performance, writing, and drawing within in a poetic, minimalist approach. They first began their admission into performance art after their initial involvement with dancers’ association La Tierce, with whom they participated in a residency at La Manufacture Atlantique in 2019. Anouk performed solo for the first time in 2021 at the Continuum art space.
Their work takes root in the body, questioning gender roles and intimacy in private and collective spaces. In their search for porous states of consciousness, they see sleep as a space for living and exploring. Their inspiration comes from diverse places, such as literature, poetry, social and political theory, cinema, experimental music, and contemporary dance.
Also working on various graphic design side- projects, Anouk has produced work for the curatorial platform Föhn and for other feminist and queer collectives.
In 2023, they launched their podcast “The Dream Weather Report” which focuses on dream narratives and allows them to mix creative sound work, theoretical research, and poetry in a format that’s accessible to diverse audiences.
