My main goal in this class is to keep myself engaged with the material to the best of my ability. To do this, I’ll take moments to stop and ask myself (or others) questions about anything that I don’t understand, such as: how does the material I’m learning fit into the larger picture of the class as a whole? Why is it relevant? It can be easy to get overwhelmed by all the information, so hopefully by asking questions I can generate a personal interest in the material as well as ground myself. By the end of this class, my ePortfolio will hopefully reflect what I have learned as well as my own interests regarding geology.
For this semester in general, I just want to stay on track with my assignments by checking Canvas when I start each day to make sure I’m spending enough time with each assignment and turning them in when they’re due.
I think the learning outcome that I’m most intrigued by is: “Analyze geologic deep time and the geologic time chart.” I find it incredible that we can infer so much about what our planet used to be like and how it has developed. It challenges my own perception of time, which is why I’d like to learn more. The learning outcome, “Identify the dynamics of the Earth’s interior and its relationship with Plate Tectonics and the formation of plate boundaries,” also sounds interesting to me, so I’m pretty excited!
