CONGRATS ON AN AWESOME 2023-24 SY! DISTINGUISHED UNIT WITH ACADEMIC HONORS! BRAVO ZULU!!!
The Naval Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NJROTC) program was established at Annapolis High School in 1993. Our mission is to teach students the values of citizenship, self-confidence, personal responsibility, and strengthen their sense of accomplishment. Our Senior Naval Science Instructor, retired Coast Guard Commander Lesane, and our Naval Science Instructor, retired Navy Chief Watson, serve as our JROTC teachers as staff of Annapolis High School. The program is also run by our Cadet Staff, cadets in the program who consistently demonstrate leadership and innovative skills.
The NJROTC curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development as well as maritime heritage, the significance of sea power, and naval topics such as the fundamentals of naval operations, seamanship, navigation, and meteorology.
There is no military service required for joining NJROTC.
Annapolis NJROTC transforms students into leaders through our vast curriculum of naval science, military history and community awareness. We offer extensive leadership experiences, opportunities for community service, and chances to help students reach their full potential. Annapolis NJROTC accepts students from a wide variety of backgrounds, programs, and schools.
Classroom instruction throughout the year includes naval knowledge, leadership development, community service projects, team competitions, visits to naval facilities, marksmanship training, and other forms of leadership training. Annapolis NJROTC is a great opportunity to meet students from other JROTC units and schools from across Anne Arundel County.
Uniforms and textbooks are provided at no cost by the Navy. Transportation is provided to students beginning in Fall 2023. One elective credit is granted for completion of two full semesters. Two years of NJROTC also grants you a higher rank upon enlistment in the military if you choose to do so.
