This video by Bardot Brush gives a simple and short tutorial on the functions of Procreate and how to use them with the Apple Pencil. She explains to beginners in a clear and easy to follow manner along with timestamps. After watching, I can create my own canvas, select brushes, create my own colour palette, select, crop, resize, and export.
This video by Mac Ford teaches us how to make GIFS (although it is for Instagram). The concept of layering and looping was introduced as the main mechanism in making the drawings animated. Stickers are also mostly made from an animated GIF.
Another video by Bardot Brush introduced five different animation effects that are easy for beginners to follow in a step-by-step tutorial. I plan to use most of the methods on sticker making, namely the Wiggly Animation, Guided Motion, and Isolated Movement.
Lastly, more advanced features are taught by Bardot Brush in this video. The idea of alpha lock, clipping masks, and layer masks are essential in adding/drawing layers of texture. I am excited to use one of these advanced drawing function on my drawings too.
LIMITATIONS
Unlike Line Stickers, animated stickers with audio are not supported by Whatsapp. This restricts the fun part of the creation process. Although I was a little disappointed about being unable to add audio to the sticker, I was reminded that not all stickers need an audio.
A lot of storage would be used to record the sticker creation process as the stickers are drawn and edited over the course of a few days. Luckily, Procreate has an in-built time-lapse replay system that starts recording only when changes are made to the canvas. This removed one less worry about documenting the process.
