Volunteer With Us

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Animal Care Turangi! We’re a volunteer-run organisation that supports over 200 animals per year through community rescue, care, and rehoming efforts.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do — feeding, cleaning, and caring for animals who need a second chance. Whether you have an hour a week or more, your time can make a real difference.

Centre Helper Roles

Our Animal Centre Helpers work in morning, midday, or afternoon shifts, caring for cats and dogs at our facility.

Shift times:

• Morning (AM): 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (flexible)
  
  

• Midday (MID): 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. (as needed)
  
  

• Afternoon (PM): 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (flexible)
  
  

Volunteers feed the animals, clean cages and litter trays, refresh water, and support general wellbeing. Full training is provided.

We also need:

• Relief volunteers to fill in when others are away
  
  

• Kitten/puppy support during busy season for extra lunchtime feeds
  
  

• Fundraising volunteers to help at events throughout the year
  
  

How to Apply

1. You must be 16 years or older.
   
   

2. Fill out a Volunteer Application Form – available at our Centre or by request.
   
   

3. Once submitted, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to arrange a suitable shift.
