Upon following the tutorials given on the drive, I have layed out the structure of the model using my turn around to keep the model the correct size and scale all the way round.
I have re-drawn the model turn around and begun shaping the characters body.
Overall I believe it has gone quite well, however I have been unable to complete by the deadline as I gained a injury to my drawing arm. I have phoned the doctor and they have told me to rest it. It hurts the most when using it too much and hopefully it isn't anything worse.
One thing I have found difficult was designing feet. although I haven't passed that part, I do intend to do so in the up coming week if all things go well. Also the face is another hard task to take on, and the same with the face I intend to have it complete for next week.
Another thing I found difficult is the building up and sculpting the character as well as sometimes when the brush is a little too large for the area, it begins to fold the material on itself to provide the movement for me.
I hope for the next coming week I have completed the basic shape of my character and have details such as the face and the clothes done as well as the colouring, so it is ready to render for Maya.
For the last few weeks I have re-created my model to improve the model stance and also the symmetry. By doing this I have learnt the software better, in that I have found it easier to move around Zbrush.
I did discover at first the feet was leaning again but before I began shaping the model I corrected the feet first.
What I found hard was beginning the shape of the feet for the shoes as it was very touchy feely on what size the brush you use on the feet.
I found this to be quite fun. Once I got into the flow of how to create masks and to extract them, it was a simple task to complete. although I seem to still struggle with the feet but I had a go by putting shapes and merging them the help maintain the foot shape I wanted, I then used the mask and extract tools to build up the details.
I am not happy with the shoes and feet looks like so, I am going to dig deeper to find a source that will help me have more control on the modeling of the feet. I am going to look at the boot video on one drive to help me model shoes as this is my biggest hurdle at the moment in Zbrush.
This is one of the most hardest tasks I have come across the making of the layout of the hair with masking and extracting. creating my hair was very flat and the use of texture is something i wanted to do. I am okay with the way it is however I believe in future uses I will get better at it producing better work.
When it came to the face, it was a bit of a struggle as trying to keep the face simple but also have detail. when looking forward the face looks like the character I have designed but I when on the side view the cheeks and lips were the hardest to maintain. Adding the high cheek bones makes her look older then the age I gave her (15) so I need to edit into the face make her younger (chubbier cheeks and jaw line).
when reflecting on what I have done with the hair, I haven't been happy with the way it looks. it was messy and it just ruined the look of the cartoon character style that I was trying to achieve. The more simple look of the second run looks more stylised and has a bit more life. when retopologising it will also be more simpler to handle.
The hands were one of the trickest things to get round my head from the start when I added it to Zbrush. trying to find it and bring it to the model and size it correctly as well but after the hurdel I did mold it to the body of my character. I then began to struggle with duplicating it to the other side, but after a little research of my own I used the duplicate tool and the mirror tool to add the other hand to the other side.
The colouring was one of the most easiest things to get my head around as it was quite simple for me. The hardest part was the colour matching as I did a lot of different pieces to have the same shade.
I took a little time away from the model to have an experiment with retopolgiing in Zbrush. It is a bit of a hand full but I'm not fully getting it but with this practice it helps me see where I have gotten trapped and what I can do in the future.
