So after following the export on Zbrush I began to add it to Maya. At first I was very confused that i couldn't see my model but when I zoomed out it was off to the side. With this I used the move tool to put it into the right spot.
Although I have done this in Zbrush, I wanted to try and have a go a retopologising in Maya.
Honestly I found that trying to do it in Maya is harder than Zbrush. It took me quite a few run overs with the video before I finally got a understanding of how to do it.
overall most of my model was ok with spacing and stuff with the grids but places like the face and fabric of the head piece was a little crowded so I sorted them out.
I struggled here to get in between the fingers to add shapes. I also struggled with the evening of squares to make it a more solid mesh (that implies to the palm and top of the hand).
Now that I had further developing the re-topolize in Maya, Although a very long process it gave me more independence on the control of how many squares I want than what zbrush does. (zbrush does it for you but doesn't go as low as we can in Maya.
UV-ing is hard. it took the most time to understand. sometimes the mirror wasn't in the tab so I had to find it in the upper tabs of Maya. Although I had got it most down I still don't fully get all the pieces through UV, such as the hair band as it was at an angle.
One part I found hard was separating the body. I some how got it to work with the leg suddenly but it took me to re-watch the video a few times to find out what I did to do this.
If I had more time I would have rebuilt my model to be more symmetrical to make my character easy to use while UV-ing. I would also use more shapes into making the hair to make it more manageable to UV it.
At first it was hard to understand what the video was saying but after re-watching it multiple times I finally understood what it wanted me to do. I was stuck on putting my own colours into it. This happened because by the time I kept getting to that part I was busy sorting other things and so I missed taking it in. I need to learn that when learning from videos, I need to pause the video and not let it carry on while I'm working on a different part to then skip the vital information between the bigger parts.
This was the quickest thing to do after everything in Maya. A few tabs to check off then through render view I render the image and saved it. Although I need to make sure to check the save file as I didn't save it as .jpeg at first but .als.
I was unable to rig my character as a common problem I have seemed to keep is that it isn't good in its symmetry.
with this I am going to rig the model provided to show off that I can Rig a model.
here is the video to the rig test I done on the model I borrowed as mine didn't mesh with the rig. Before recording I got the legs to move however they seemed to not want to work with me but the pose rigs below prove I am able to move the legs.
Here is the pose I have created for the model. I did try to render these into Images however it only ever came out black like the image to prove below.
