We would love to see a Caring Cradle in every birth center and hospital in Oklahoma. The Caring Cradle is a device that offers a way for parents and family to spend time with their baby immediately following loss. By cooling the precious body of a baby, the natural changes that occur in death are slowed. The removable gel pad is what keeps the baby's body cool.
The original Caring Cradle is for full-term losses and babies up to about one year. The Caring Cradle Mini is more suitable sized for early-term stillbirths. This smaller bassinet is designed for the tiniest Angel Babies weighing under 4 pounds. Parents are able to keep their baby in the room with them for a few days to bond, take the photos, introduce baby to family members and say their final goodbye in a dignified way in a more relaxed time frame.
Operation Caring Cradle is raising funds to purchase at least one Original Caring Cradle and one Caring Cradle Mini.
We recently raised enough funds to purchase a Caring Cradle Mini to donate to a local hospital in Oklahoma City in memory of an Angel Baby who lived 1 day. The number of families these machines can reach is immeasurable and can be a vital part of the grieving process for parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. The days of having a few minutes to hold a stillborn baby should not have to take place. These bassinets can solve that problem and give the family time to take photos, videos, and process the fact that their baby will not be going home with them.
