In this class, students were introduced to foundational tenents of research design. Each week, the class had the opportunity to both learn research theories and then to put them in practice. The course culminates with each student delivering a research "pitch" on a topic of their choice.
PBHL 420: Epidemiology

In this class, students were introduced to foundational concepts of epidemiology, including measurement, study design, and bias. We regularly used real-world examples of strong (and less strong) epidemiological designs. Students were developed a study proposal in groups for their final evaluation.
PHTH 4202: Principles of Epidemiology in Medicine and Public Health

In this class, students were introduced to foundational concepts of epidemiology, including measurement, study design, and bias. I brought in material from various sources (including peer-reviewed articles, as well as popular media), and the class culminated with a paper reviewing a peer-reviewed article.
SRVC 4890 & SPHU 4560: Leadership and Ethics in Public Health

This course was an online, asynchronous seminar that accompanied students' service-learning internships. We covered numerous topics related to ethics in public health and cultural humility. I also worked with students to ensure they were meeting the requirements of their service-learning internship.

Johns Hopkins University | Intersession 2019
This one-credit term, taught in one week during Johns Hopkins' intersession, introduced students to HIV, including the viral structure and how it creates life-long infection, and the social and structural circumstances that promote or protect against disease transmission.
